    Default Onyx Percula

I bought a pair of Onyx Percula through Wet Thumb Frags back in August. The pair is simply beautiful!!

The pair finally laid eggs for the first time on Christmas afternoon.

The eggs hatched out January 2nd.

And as of yesterday they are starting to reach the metamorphosis stage when they start to look and behave more like adult clownfish.

The pair is set to lay eggs again today. I'm hoping to see a nice big clutch when I get home from work! (fingers crossed).

    Congrats, and fingers are crossed!
I have a pair of false perc's, and a pair of black ice clowns, I just got my breeding system up and running last week, so the fish were just placed in the breeder, looks like it will be sometime before I get any baby's. :(

Id love to hear about what you are feeding your bloodstock as well as your larva and babies..

    Hey crow,
congrats on finally getting your set up going. I saw your post on your black ice, they are georgous!
I used to feed rods breeders blend to the brood stock but have switched over to a home made blend. after making the switch my Banggais, ocellaris (both sets), onyx perc, regular perc, and my coral banded shrimp have started to lay eggs. It is just a blend of shrimp, clam, lobster, oyster, squid, tuna steak, salmon, freeze dried blood worms, freeze dried krill, astazathin powder, golden pearl, freeze dried rotifers, freeze dried copepods and various trace elements.
I feed the fry only rotifers for the first week and then mix with TDO A until i see head stripes then after that they are only on the TDO A.
After getting a breeding pair of fish and placing them in a new tank you can expect not to get any eggs until after 4 to 6 months maybe even up to a year, depends on how comfortable the fish are with their tank and with you sticking your hand in there to feed and clean. I was very surprised to see my wild caught onyx laying eggs after 4 months.
